Monthly Archives — "July 2012"
I ended up committing to 7 canvases, new oil color pack, terpentine and several new paint brushes for my next projects!
This past week has been kinda crazy for me and really stressful with all my interviews lately. However, I was able to find time to get down and dirty with my paint brushes! I forgot how much I love oil painting and what a stress reliever it can be. Creating something from your mind with you hands can be one of the most rewarding feelings in the world, whether its painting, sewing, or cooking using your imagination can be one of the best ways to meditate without a yoga mat. I recommend purchasing and committing to some type of hobby at lease a hour a day if you have been dealing with some try of stress.

Happy 4th of July Everyone! Before celebrating this very patriotic Holiday, I had three things pop into my head: Corn on the cob, beach tans, and fireworks. This shoot was the first ideal posting since I wandered permanently to California. Three promising colors influenced by this holiday really inspired my shoot. Red, White, and Blue symbolize the American Dream and I feel it is important to remember the importance of what those colors stand for. Many people are going through hard times, however from sea to shining sea we are still strong. I also really wanted to show you what I have been up to. On down days, I have been soaking up the sun and San Diego’s skyline while I drift to the bay on my beach cruiser. What has been really trendy lately this hot summer is retro cars. I have seen many 1960 Cadillac De-ville cruising around and maybe a Woody from time to time. My favorite.. and soon to be dream car is a Vintage BMW convertible! Yellow Please! I have noticed massive amounts of vintage influence not only in fashion but in the streets as well. I lovvvvvvve it!
For me, this hot summer is about vintage inspired pieces. This sailboat-patterned blouse is from Forever 21. I not only love the pattern, but I think the fabric is also amazing because it stays nice and cool in the summer sun! The navy blue shorts are Volcom. I absolutely cannot get enough of these shorts; I also have a pair in dirty pink. Honestly, I wore this outfit three time this past week!! The boots that “are made for stomping” were found at a thrift store near by called Girls from the Park. They really take the cake when it comes to patriotic holiday outfits, if I do say so myself.
