Vintage floral and cream jacket
MOVING to San Diego as been such an exciting adventure already. I love it here and cannot get enough of the Thrifts Stores. I have been so busy lately trying to get back into the groove in my new studio, that is why I have not posted anything lately! Soooo, let me update you on what I have been up too.
I started sketching again! Yay. I have many ideas for bathing suits for athletic water women. My goal is to create comfortable athletic swimwear for women. Two pet peeves of mine… worrying about their boobs falling out while preforming water sports or picking wedgies while surfing. So I have a few EPIC ideas up my sleeve. Next step … sewing.
I am going to start school in the fall, I am so excited to commit to fashion design, Hawaii really helped me discover myself and what I want to do with the rest of my life. I am going to make my dreams a reality. I truly believe you can do anything, you just have to be motivated in your mind and heart. Do what you love and success with follow, I promise.
One hobby I love is Thrift Store Shopping! Yesterday, my lovely mother and I strolled to the local Salvation Army for a few hours. One tip I can give to someone trying to become a professional thrift store shopper, “DO NOT GET OVERWHELMED!” Walking into a T.Store can be terrifying. You have to take a breath and commit a great deal of time. Its like playing hid and seek or finding that needle in the haystack. Go through one piece of clothing at a time. It is always a hit or miss for me. I can go hours without finding a single thing, however once you find something exquisite, its one of the best feelings there is! I scored and Vintage Floral Jacket and Black Vintage Backless Dress that reminds me of famous outfit Audrey Hepburn wears in Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Its worth the time, I promise! Just go one rack at a time…
I found a hidden beach access trail between two ranches here on the North Shore of Oahu. I drove by it before a few days ago and went searching for it last night. I drove by it about four different times because its in such a bazaar spot. It was about a football field long and I had it all to myself! Massive amounts of wild flowers covered both sides of the trail. There were horses too. They kept following me up and down path expecting me to feed them! Bees, birds, and butterflies swarmed around me while I slowly crept towards the beach. I ended up taking off my shoes and letting the sand and dirt sift through my toes. I was humming songs and snapping pictures as I went, mesmerized by what I wandered upon and to think I almost did not go at all. This is what Hawaii is all about.comment →
My Easter Sunday consisted on casually jumping infront of my camera at the beach in front of about 20 people enjoying the sun and taking pictures of things that inspire me. I have a secret spot that I go to at lease once a week and just think. For example… Facebook Just Bought Instagram for 1Billion WHAT!!! that’s ridiculous only 13 people work there!!! I wish that would happen to me someday. This just blows my mind cell.
I am seduced by the beauty of sunsets here on Oahu, this is normal when you live here. I love when the clouds are completely different colors from the sky itself. I took these pictures in my back yard last night. It felt like the sky was on fire with orange and pink clouds quickly moving above the mountains.comment →
Wednesday night Randy Rarick was the guest speaker at the Talk Story hosted at the Turtle Bay Resort. I was of course the door girl collecting the donations and greeting the guests. I enjoy working the Talk Stories because it does not feel like work at all. I actually feel like I should be paying instead of getting paid to see these famous surf legends speak every week! I am so grateful for these opportunities I have had so far in Hawaii, almost feels like a dream.
I was given my first Lei that night. I ended up using it was a crown for my outfit above. The high waisted floral shorts are one of my favorite thrift store scores. That purple color is intoxicating and a little addicting. The Aladdin sandals are Steve Madden and the black jacket is Free People. I have been influenced towards this new trend of draping longer coats and pairing them with shorts for this spring. Everyone thats anyone is doing it
-Oh almost forgot, the blouse is Forever 21 and the earring are some 80s earrings my mom tried to throw away but I just had to save them!comment →
